My two girlfriends and I celebrating a 30th birthday had a great time at Caracalla. We mostly enjoyed the pools on the lower level and outside particularly the very warm pool indoors. We got there around and used a coupon from our hotel Hotel Schweizer Hof to get a free hour paid for 3, got 1 free.
This was a great time to be there as the spa was busy but not crowded and the atmosphere was relaxing as the sun went down. The outdoor pools at night are great! Additionally, we did not follow the correct procedure for acclimating to the hot saunas, and very nearly overheated. If you participate in the sauna area, make sure you follow the directions to prepare yourself for the hottest sauna room located to the left as you walk in.
The room to the right and the one behind the snack bar are not as hot. Overall, this was very enjoyable and relaxing, particularly the pools, and we were pleased that there weren't a lot of kids running around. There were some children, but they were very well behaved and the pools were big enough to claim your own space and not be bothered. We soaked in the hot springs, and sweated in the saunas, enjoyed the hot spa, cold water plunge, warm springs, current, falls, and steam room with aroma therapy.
We tried the salt inhalation sauna but didn't get the point. If you venture up to the roof for a taste of the Roman experience clothes optional , you'll discover two delightful outdoor saunas. Our very affordable tickets allowed us 3 hours in the baths; just 90 minutes left us wrinkled, very relaxed, and ready for a stroll to the nearest biergarten.
I liked the helpful staff and the nice-not so relaxed though -atmosphere. Very well-organized facility with an outdoor option.
