Contact Admin. Have you had any experience of this type of problem elsewhere then? Although there are Cubans on this beach, particularly at weekends, the police pay frequent visits there and are always questioning 'locals' and asking for ID. I regard this beach to be very safe and have never experienced any problems whatsoever with Cubans visiting the beach. We have been to the Daiquiri twice and highly recommend it.
During our last stay last November we went to Playa Pilar and it is a must see. If you think the beach at Cayo Guillermo is beautiful wait until you see Playa Pilar.
Playa Pilar beach was 'to die for'. There were a few Cuban families enjoying the beautiful beach too. There are a few small beaches around there. Some with bar where you could buy fresh seafood and drinks.. You can hire a car and vist these heavenly spots. The beaches here are truly 'away from it all'.
Very pretty, with lots of flowers and plants, no crowds, no pollution, no noise and we felt very safe. If you're a beach bum like me, you'll love this place. How far fropm Playa Pilar? Are the cars safe to hire there and did you book one b4 you went or when u were there?
Not bad, the hotel beaches are actually better. If you like wildlife then the dunes at PP might interest you. The bar there is OK too. You can get to PP by using the regular shuttle 'train' from the hotels. We booked a hired car the day before we set out. It took about 30 - 50 minutes to get to Flamingo Beach. We hired a jeep , thinking it would be cooler, but actually the sun was burning on the tops of our heads.
