Trying to post this again. Anyone who thinks this is paradise needs to get out more. They just keep building and throwing the construction debris, plastic and trash behind their buildings. Sad chickens and children play on the piles while watching french women in dreadlocks eating a 7euro baguette from a European owned Italian restaurant.
I found the whole place gross in so many ways. If you take a kayak onto the ocean far enough away to not hear the incessant techno music then you may enjoy the blue waters for a minute. You have to paddle faaaar to see any fish though. Nothing can live in the raw sewage addmittingly from our hotel owners words flowing right where the boats arrive. I did like the cheap beach fish bbq and mild mannered semi wild dogs. If you go against my advice bring cash.
Koh Touch is nothing special, in fact it was dirty and over crowded with crap bars run by westerners who think they're better than everyone because they're working in a bar in Cambodia. We intended to do 6 nights but left after 4. A must do!! It is not. Come to Koh Rong. You have to go through Sihanoukville I will explain in another post how awful that place was: prostitution, casinos and piles of rubbish everywhere. Then you get a speed boat from Sihanoukville to Kah Rong.
Once there, you are met by sea the most beautiful shade of blue you have seen. It is small. There are no roads and no public transport. There only a handful of restaurants by pier. Sandflies occur, but coconut oil prevents them from biting. Gorgeous white sand beaches and warm waters for swimming, but littered with mountains of plastic and other garbage washed up from the sea.
They need to clean up! This island is known as the party island for backpackers, which I can assure you it is, there is a different party every night, from jungle parties, police beach all nighters and of course Nestival! However, if you want a little more of a relaxed slow paced holiday you can still find what you are looking for.
